One of Henley Beach’s most iconic buildings has been renovated and reborn into Seamore’s Bar & Restaurant. I was invited to the opening of Seamore’s, a new adventure by the Vanzati family who brought us Malobo, Swedish Tarts, Hermanos Cubanos and New Nordic.
Now I’m not sure if you were like me and ever regularly went to what used to be there, the Sandbar, (by regularly I mean every weekend for a few years) but my face filled with absolutely joy as I walked into this new restaurant and bar.
The interior was filled with light pastel colours, plenty of new booth seating and tables, an upgraded balcony area with seating and the perfect view along with a new bar space so you don’t even have to move from your perfect view to grab yourself another drink. My eyes couldn’t believe what a change they have brought onto this spot. It used to be dim lit and dark inside, barely any seating or opportunity to order food. It wasn’t the type of place you would come before 11pm.
Don’t fear though, if you are looking for a spot where you can eat some delicious food, enjoy the view, but also have a boogie on the dancefloor with friends then they have covered you. The main area with enough space to have some music along with a dance, also boasts a beautiful, shiny disco ball, ready for you and your friends to get down and dance.
There is also an inside balcony that has been redone with booth seating and bench seating, with windows that look over the ocean and the ability to open the windows. This area used to be dark and shabby, you wouldn’t be able to see out onto the ocean to enjoy the views.
With their menu focussing on simple Italian cuisine, you have plenty of options to choose from. Shared plates, to fresh pastas, homemade pizza or even just a delicious sandwich, you can pop in for a proper meal or just a bite to eat with a drink.
Seamore’s will be the new hot spot to come when you visit Henley Beach, with the view, food, cocktails and good vibes, be sure to check out this amazing new restaurant & bar during the summer and bring along your friends or family.
I can’t wait to visit again in the summer time and re-live my younger days, (but this time in a much classier and less stale alcohol smelling venue) Thanks to the team at Seamore's for having me, and the lovely ladies at Girl About Town.
