The Lab has been on my list to visit for a long time, I first came across their food from another blogger who had ordered the Pork Soba Noodles and, if you know me even a little bit, you’d know that Pork and me go together like… well like Roast pork and me.
It was always a tough choice coming here though, because their menu boasts some incredibly delicious looking dishes, from Chicken and Waffles, French Toast with Nutella, delicious buttermilk fried chicken and so much more. I knew in my head when I came here I would cave in and get the Soba Noodles but I needed to make sure whoever I came with would be willing to sacrifice what they actually wanted to get the second dish of my choice..
We finally made our way here and the café is cute and filled with laboratory items. From beakers and test tubes, to kidney dishes, they really went all out! The customer service was friendly and efficient, and with the café being so small you could see straight into the kitchen where the chefs are cooking. Obviously, my first pick was the pork and soba noodles, I was done. I then convinced my partner to get the fried chicken and waffles because I really wanted to try them and I knew they would look fantastic in a photo, which I was right.
If you aren’t drooling from the photos then you will be in a minute. Lets start with the soba noodle and pork dish. The pork was cooked perfectly, it was a soft braised style pork, absolutely packed with flavour and paired perfectly with the flavourful soba noodles. It was one of the most perfect soba dishes I’ve had.
The chicken and waffles are not for the faint hearted, but the chicken, oh.my.god. The chicken was cooked and seasoned exactly how you want fried chicken to be. It was moist on the inside but crispy enough on the outside, the seasoning was perfect and flavourful and I wish I had ordered it for myself as a side dish so I could eat it all myself.
Overall, this place should be on your list to visit, I enjoyed the coffee and the food, and I can’t wait to go back to visit again soon!
